Oh my!! You should be a math genius! There are things I don't think I've ever saw in my life (or maybe I simply forgot, it was 24 years ago!).

I love sudoku puzzles, but only with simple numbers.

I spend way too much of my time on sudoku. I usually go through one of two magazines a week, anywhere from 20-60 puzzles a day. I hope to read your story soon, but I'm not sure if I have enough time today. *back to homework*

why should binary be 8 digits long?

That would be the way it's usually input into computers. Having it eight digits long gives exactly 256 numbers, all having to do with powers of two. Binary itself doesn't have to be that way, but I learned it through computers.
