Anyone in Beaverton take a look outside the last few hours? It's insane!

I heard earlier today that there was going to be a big storm, but that usually means it's bad on the coast and the news channel has nothing better to hype about. It's been dumping buckets of rain for the past week, which is nothing new, but combined with the 50-70mph winds that are happening inland is having an interesting effect on the trees on our street.

We heard the first crash two hours ago. Luckily the tree came down in the middle of the street, the only problem causing a road block. Another came down an hour later much farther up our block, but I didn't bother to look.

About 20 minutes ago we heard a very large crash and what sounded like breaking glass. Three houses up the street two tree had come down in their yard, one taking out there whole deck and smashing in window, while the other is just leaning against the house for now. The roots of one of the trees reached the second story of the house. A fire truck came, but the tree still in the road is blocking them.

Three homes have been evacuated and most have lost power. This has been quite an interesting night.

In Jeff's area, he saw a transformer blow out and his way to his house was blocked by a tree - he had to take a different route just to get home. Poor guy.

I lost power until 9:00 this morning, it was really bad. However, it was very cool to watch the transformer for the neighborhood blow up.

Most of the schools around here are closed today as well because of tree damage and power outage. O.o

You're hearing news of the North West? I didn't think this would really go inland, but we were wrong. I'll be fine. I think the worst is over. We only had power blips which is nothing compared to the people down the street... It's the price you pay for getting to live around so many trees.

I'm fine this morning, ut the street is a wreck. All the kids are happy because school has been canceled in our area. :)

That would have been really cool to watch.

Wow! Stay safe!

Storms are sooo interesting - the power, the drama - but I've sure learned to respect them from here in Tornado Alley.

Yeeea, I get freaked when huge wind storms come by. We live in a trailer park named "Oaks Mobile Home Park" for a reason. :| The acorns that hit the roof sound like bombs...
Glad to hear you're all right... but I hope everyone around you can recover okay. I hadn't heard about this at all, actually.

Oh my, what a night! Luckily you are safe, but please take care! I'm always so scared by storms!

*hugs*

It was very interesting to go look at all the damage afterwords. I never thought we'd get a big storm here.

We're perfectly fine. I think storms are really neat, they just rarely come here.

I hope you were ok with the storm by your house.

My house lost power from about 7:45 pm last night to about 1:30 this morning. And when I went shopping today, it started to hail. I may make a journal entry about that.

Eeek! Big storms like that can be so scary, but amazing at the same time. The power of nature is kind of cool to watch :)

It was hailing several places I went yesterday. Mostly slushy snow was coming down. We didn't lose power, but I know several other people who did.

It was really neat. Several people on the street actually got to see some of the trees fall. I haven't seen a tree fall down in person since I was in 4th grade at school.
